Margaret Chaidez - Project Manager

Margaret’s main focus on the PLAY Illinois team is Sales and Design Consultation. Her first (and most important) inclusive playground – Owen’s Playground at Hillcrest Elementary School in Downers Grove, IL – is truly a testament to her passion, as she oversaw this project based on a promise she had made to her son, Owen, “…you see something, make a change”. She had done the research, raised the funds, and remained steadfast to that promise. But for Margaret building this playground was much more than the promise she made to her son. “It’s not my son in a wheelchair, it’s for kids of all abilities to be inclusive.”

After earning a degree in Journalism from Columbia College, Margaret brings 25 years of digital marketing and strategy to our table.

Margaret lives in Downers Grove, IL where she enjoys spending time with her husband, three boys and two dogs (Bear and Panda). She spends her free time, “Raising awareness for my non-profit “Dream, Build, Play Experience”, which designs, builds, and holds fundraisers to create accessible playgrounds for people of all abilities. We partner with communities to educate them on the importance of inclusion through recreational play.” She’s also a member of the Chicago Chapter of Women in Leisure.
